Supporting Humboldt Scholars
The Humboldt Foundation encourages the lifelong connection to the
Foundation and among scholars whose research the Foundation supports.
It offers a number of follow-up opportunities to enable Humboldtians
to maintain their professional relationships with Germany and with
one another. These are some of the highlights.
Renewed
Research Stays:
Former Humboldt Fellows and German Chancellor Fellows can apply
to return to Germany for renewed research stays of up to three months.
Humboldt
Kollegs:
Funding is available for Humboldtians to organize regional and interdisciplinary
conferences on topics of their choice. Humboldtians and potential
applicants to Humboldt programs should be among the participants.
Humboldt
Network Online:
The Humboldt family now has over 24,000 members world-wide. The
Humboldt Network Online makes it easy to search for, and to stay
in touch with, colleagues around the globe. Have you moved? Taken
a new position? Changed your field or specialization? By logging
on, you can update your personal profile. The Foundation prefers
that you use this method (rather than email or mail) to update your
contact information. To log on to the Network Online or to register
as a first-time user, click

American Friends Support for Alumni Activities:
Our office maintains a database of all Humboldtians in the U.S.,
and if any Humboldtian wishes to organize a gathering for social,
cultural or professional exchange, please contact
the office. We can provide lists or mailing labels of Humboldtians
at a university, institution, organization, or in a geographic area
such as a city or state. We can also provide informational materials
describing Humboldt Foundation programs and grant opportunities.
American Friends also offers small grants toward the expenses of
renting meeting space and/or providing modest refreshments. Inquiries
about financial support should be submitted in advance of the gathering
and should include the proposed program and the invitation list.
Support grants will be made after we receive a brief report on the
program and a list of participants.
